HVAC Fundraiser - We Need Your Help!

February 2021
Dear Fellow-Parishioners,

Fr. Pawel and we, the St. Catherine’s Finance Council and the Building & Grounds Committee, wish to thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and continued support of our parish. Your generous response in 2017 to the parking lot appeal seems like only yesterday! Your devotion and loyalty are deeply appreciated and, once again, desperately needed.

In these trying times, it is easy to forget the Easter message of hope and resurrection. Perhaps it is fitting that this letter comes to you as we experience the Lenten season – a time of repentance and sacrifice. In the midst of the suffering and uncertainty of this terrible pandemic, St. Catherine’s has an additional setback to add to the mix. The entire Parish Center is without heat and air- conditioning! The business offices are operating with portable electric heaters since the HVAC system has become totally non-functioning. A completely new HVAC system is the only solution!

Admittedly, this is a difficult time to ask for your support. However, you can help in a number of ways. First, and most important, is prayer.

1. PRAY for our parish and its mission. Pray for our pastor whose relentless dedication sustains our parish. (When was the last time he had a day off?)

2. GIVE what you can. Priorities are often difficult to determine so please give this request very serious consideration. We, the parishioners, are St. Catherine’s only source of income! In light of the diminished weekly (and Christmas!) collections during COVID and loss of Parish Center rental income, this is an opportunity to replenish the coffers and rescue the Center.

3. TALK to your family, friends, neighbors, fellow-parishioners and encourage them to donate.

4. KEEP IN MIND that the HVAC system must be fixed; the Parish Center is unusable to the parish and to potential renters.

We have already had to turn away several rentals and forgo a Knights of Columbus Fish Fry.

Currently we have received multiple estimates for the work. Unfortunately, the amount needed is $75,000, and this astronomical amount can only be amassed through the generosity of St. Catherine’s faithful community! We simply cannot put this project off; lost revenue and increased costs would be the result. With this in mind, our projected timeline is 3 months (May of this year). There just may be a few people who will manage to donate several thousand dollars, others - several hundred, and still others who will give from their “need”. Whatever the case, please prayerfully consider this request. We respectfully ask that you complete the pledge card form; weekly, monthly, and one-time donations will be gratefully accepted. We also have an option to contribute online directly to our Parish Center HVAC Fundraising Fund

Keep in mind . . .
For it is in giving that we receive. (St. Francis of Assisi) No one has ever become poor from giving. (Anne Frank)

We are all looking forward to a return to “normalcy” when we will fully regroup as an active and dedicated “FAMILY OF FAMILIES”. In the meantime, please remember that our website (www.stcatherineofbologna.org) is routinely updated and available for your review. Among the many spiritual and informative articles on the website are the Diocesan COVID Guidelines for all parishes – to which we are strictly adhering. Rest assured that St. Catherine’s Church is providing a safe environment, and we are all encouraged to participate in the liturgical life of the church. The current Mass schedule is as follows:

Monday – Saturday: 9 a.m. / Saturday: 5 p.m. / Sunday: 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Sacrament of Reconciliation: Saturday, 4 – 4:30 p.m.

With sincere appreciation,

Finance Council
Building & Grounds Committee
